WRADlink A FINALIST IN COMMUNITY SOUTHWEST AWARDS

Our WRADlink program has been named as one of seven finalists in the Community Southwest's annual awards program.

WRADlink was chosen from more than 20 entrants in the awards.

The seven south-west finalists in the Community Southwest Collaboration and Social Inclusion awards are all programs that aid needy local residents.

More than 20 applications were received from both CSW members and the wider community. The awards will be presented as part of CSW’s Towards 2020 conference in Warrnambool on March 25-26. CSW Executive Officer Allan Bassett said the judging panel was delighted with the diversity of entrants and the different approaches to encouraging social inclusion and collaboration within local communities. The finalists are:·         Western Region Alcohol and Drug Centre’s WRADlink,·         Brophy Family and Youth Services’ YUMCHA Program,·         Brauer College’s XLR8 Program, ·         Southern Way’s All Abilities Debutante Ball,·         Warrnambool City Council’s Gnatanwarr Festival,·         South West Healthcare Warrnambool Psychiatric Services’ STAR Beat Choir ·         South West Primary Care Partnership’s Heart of Corangamite program  Mr Bassett said the entrants had so much to offer that it was difficult to narrow it down to a list of finalists. “The nominations have, in a very diverse way, provided participants with opportunities to become more involved in areas of their interest and in many cases to become much more involved with the broader community,” he said. The aim of the awards, which are sponsored by Western District Employment Access (WDEA), is to encourage innovative processes and partnerships for improved social inclusion and collaboration throughout the region. This is the second time the awards have been staged but the first time they have been open to non-Community Southwest members. “It is a great program to showcase the very positive programs taking place across the region,” Mr Bassett said.
