SPECIAL SPEEDWAY EXHIBIT AT COLLECTA-BOOL (new January 19)
A special collection of speedway memorabilia will be a highlight of Collecta-Bool in Warrnambool’s Civic Hall at Easter. Vintage sprintcars, models, posters, standees, videos, magazines and more will be featured as part of the Collecta-Bool fair which is a fund-raiser for not-for-profit organisation The Western Region Alcohol and Drug Centre (WRAD). It will be staged on Easter Saturday and Sunday, April 3 and 4.  The inaugural Collecta-Bool fair in Warrnambool last February attracted widespread interest and positive feedback. Collecta-Bool organiser, Rick Bayne, said a number of long-term speedway supporters had agreed to share their collections. “Collecta-Bool will coincide with the annual Easter Sprintcar Trial at Premier Speedway so we thought it would be a great idea to bring out some rarities from the collections of several key speedway supporters,” Mr Bayne said.  “It’s great that speedway fans have agreed to help out and that locals and people visiting Warrnambool for the weekend will have another local key event to visit.” The collection will include a 1958 sprintcar and many surprises! There will even be vintage speedway records on display. Collecta-Bool exhibits rare collections from in and around Warrnambool. It differs from regular antique fairs in that most of the items are not for sale and many have never been displayed to the public. “We offer a rare insight into the private collections that people have created over many decades,” Visitors will have a chance to view and talk to the collectors and share a rare piece of local history,” Mr Bayne said. Some of the other items confirmed for the show include: ·         Vintage records·         Disney memorabilia·         Radios·         Australian movie memorabilia·         Model cars·         Fire brigade memorabilia·         Mystery items·         Gramophones and phonographs·         Toys·         Beer glasses·         Model planes·         Swap cards·         Tea pots Anyone interested in sharing their collections for Collecta-Bool or finding out more about the fair can contact Mr Bayne on 0418 140489.
