WRAD aims to strengthen the AOD capacity of the Victorian Medical Workforce by offering special training opportunities for GPs. WRAD is registered as a Special Skills Training Post for rural GP registrars.

Counselling, consultancy and continuing care

This key service is free and confidential for anyone with an alcohol and/or drug-related problem or affected by these problems. WRAD endeavours to provide information, strategies and support to enable each drug-affected person to manage their life better and to attain their personal goals for change.

Custodial medicine program

WRAD’s medical services offer support and medical care for people held in custody in Warrnambool.

Drug screening

Urine drug screening and alcohol breath testing are available to individuals and agencies throughout the service area. A referral is generally needed and a signed pathology slip is mandatory.

Health promotion campaigns

WRAD promotes awareness campaigns such as National Drug Awareness Week, Rural Health Week, and, where possible, translates the theme locally into action.

Youth home-based withdrawal

The service targets young people aged between 12 and 21 who are experiencing problematic drug use and wish to address their drug problem outside a hospital setting. This may be the family home or any other stable place of residence. A comprehensive, tailored treatment plan is developed with the young person to assist and encourage him/her to achieve his/her goals.
